Rewilding life in northern Morocco

The Vision

What We're Doing

Who We Are

We are a small collective of family, friends, and villagers working together to regenerate 1.7 hectares of dry land near a dam reservoir.
Our dream is simple: to bring back a living forest, restore biodiversity, and create a space where humans and non-humans can coexist. This is a long-term, community-based ecological project. We build slowly, with care and respect for the land and those who live near it.

We are not trying to dominate the land. We are learning from it. We envision a forest that grows again, with trees that belong here, water that nourishes life, soil that breathes, and people who take care of it.
We want to restore the local ecosystem with native trees, shrubs, and herbs. We aim to create a living agroforest that can feed both humans and animals. Our hope is to let wild animals and birds return and find refuge. We want to build homes that respect the earth and cool themselves naturally. And we wish to share the process with others who want to learn or help. This is a forest for life, not for profit.

We are planting dense belts of native trees along the borders of the land using the Miyawaki method. This helps create shade, hold water, and protect life.
In the central zone, we are planting layers of fruit trees, shrubs, and herbs using syntropic design.
These include citrus, fig, carob, almond tree, grenade tree, jacaranda, and more.
We use plants instead of chemicals to filter greywater and ensure a clean flow to and from the lake. We are also improving the soil using mulch, cover crops, and shade.
We are building shelters and corridors for owls, frogs, lizards, birds, and pollinators. Our goal is to let nature take root again. We will construct clay houses using traditional Moroccan methods. These homes are low-impact, breathable, and naturally cool.

We are not a company or an NGO. We are a family and a circle of friends and neighbors who believe in taking care of the land. Some of us are artists, farmers, builders, students, ecologists. Others are simply curious or passionate about planting. We work with our hands, we camp on site, we ask for help when we need it.

Everyone is welcome to take part in this process.
